Volunteering

bbq volunteerTogether, we can make a difference in the lives of people throughout York Region and have an immeasurable impact on the success of our growing communities. Opportunities exist to make a difference in our community by volunteering occasionally in support of a community event, or seasonally through our Christmas Assistance Program and our Christmas Kettle Campaign.

My Story

russellHi, my name is Russell Davis and recently I had the privilege to spend five months working at The Salvation Army Northridge Community Church. It really changed the way I see the Salvation Army and its church.

Community Service Hours

get involvedThe Salvation Army works regularly with individuals who are court ordered to complete hours of community service as part of their sentence. Inquiries are usually screened through a phone call and a referral or appointment for a further interview is arranged. Call for more information.

Small Group Events

small groupAn ever expanding network of faith based, small groups helps people cope with the stresses of each day by providing a loving caring environment in which the answers to life’s many questions are explored and discussed.

Community Events

fall fairWe frequently run community activities and events, involving people of all ages from youth to “Just Older Youth” (ie. The JOY Club – a fellowship program for the elderly).

In serving the communities of Newmarket and Aurora and East Gwillimbury, The Salvation Army helps people through various programs from food bank services, clothing and furniture assistance, counselling for men, women, and youth, to help for seniors, people seeking shelter, summer camps for youth, emergency disaster relief and much more.

12 pocket dictionaries for our ESL class

T-shirts for kids going to camp: 300 @ $7 = $2,100

Six Youth Registration Fees for underprivileged youths to join Scouts ($200 each)

General office supplies (always needed!)
