Phylicia's Story

As her co-op for teacher's college, Phylicia choose to follow God's call to help those in need in Calcutta India. Taking her experience working with children, her education and most of all a deep love and compassion for the most vulnerable of India, Phylicia sought to lend a hand to the destitute children of the Dalit. Sarah's Story

SarahMy testimony is about getting to know God rather than coming to believe in God. I feel like I am living for a purpose. Though life is far from perfect and situations are not always happy, I am able to find joy in my circumstances in the knowledge that God loves me and is looking out for me. Shelley's Story


“The past four years have been a struggle, in particular as it relates to my finances,” Shelley continues. “I had creditors calling daily and finally had to claim bankruptcy. I worked, but had no idea how to manage my money as a single mom."

“That’s why I attend The Salvation Army financial management class. It is part of a recovery program the church offers that includes anger management, grief sharing and health and wellness. Click here to see video.

In serving the communities of Newmarket and Aurora and East Gwillimbury, The Salvation Army helps people through various programs from food bank services, clothing and furniture assistance, counselling for men, women, and youth, to help for seniors, people seeking shelter, summer camps for youth, emergency disaster relief and much more.
