Northridge Community Church is a church of The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army was founded in 1865 in London, England under the leadership of William and Catherine booth.  It was Booth's unhappiness with the established churches' exclusion of the lower class that led him to establish The Salvation Army.  William Booth had a passion to share the word of God but realized that talking to the poor about salvation was pointless if they were hungry.  The Salvation Army was thus created to feed and help those in need, both physically and spiritually.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is The Salvation Army a Social Organization?

Yes, but it is much more than that!

Is The Salvation Army a church?

Absolutely!  We are a Bible-believing part of the Christian church, and everything we do (including our social work) is motivated by our faith in Jesus Christ.  We are a founding member of the Canadian Council of Churches.

What is The Salvation Army's mission?

We are an international religious and charitable organization based on love for God and love for man, serving in over 100 countries.

Since 1865 when William Booth founded The Salvation Army, we have preached the gospel and ministered in countless practical ways…so that many who would not otherwise be reached by ordinary religious efforts could be introduced to Jesus Christ.

Why do some Salvationists wear uniform?

While uniform wearing is not required of our members, it is one way by which we can express our dedication to Jesus Christ.  It also tells those we meet that a helping hand is available to them.
