Salvation Army Disaster Services

Whenever disaster strikes, the presence of Salvation Army personnel is expected. We are often assigned a specific role by Emergency Preparedness authorities, such as counseling, registration and identification, transportation, emergency housing, feeding or clothing.

The Salvation Army of Central York Region is working to develop its resources, staff & volunteer personnel in preparedness to be equipped to handle any demands made of it in a disciplined and resourceful manner.

Currently, 3 rapid intervention teams of volunteer personnel have been recruited to obtain ongoing training in areas relevant to on-site community response assistance.

In serving the communities of Newmarket and Aurora and East Gwillimbury, The Salvation Army helps people through various programs from food bank services, clothing and furniture assistance, counselling for men, women, and youth, to help for seniors, people seeking shelter, summer camps for youth, emergency disaster relief and much more.
