Until recently, Northridge Community Church was known as The Salvation Army Newmarket Corps. It was the mission of the Newmarket Corps, and it remains the mission of Northridge Community Church, to know Christ better and to make Him better known. In thinking very seriously about this mission in the year 2001, the Church Ministry Board came to the conclusion that in order to make Christ better known within this community, the church needed to appear more inviting to those who do not know The Salvation Army as a church. It was felt that many people did not know that the Salvation Army offered a church environment which was suitable for ANYONE and EVERYONE. For this reason, it was decided that a generic, non-denominational name would be selected to replace The Salvation Army Newmarket Corps. The name Northridge Community Church was introduced in April, 2002. Why Northridge?
